Months ago I read (in another forum) that unscented/uncolored soaps were selling very well. So, I made a large amount for shows. I've since found out that no one is buying them Shocked. Has anyone had good luck with unscented/uncolored soaps? I have never sold any except through the Christmas holidays when people were buying one of each of my basic line.

I sell a lot of buttermilk bastile and plain oatmeal soap, probably 50/50 with the scented soap.
Maybe changing the names might help. What do you call them now, if you want we can do some brainstorming for you..

The soap is named Bare Basic Natural and it is an all white soap with creamy tops.

At the current markets I am doing, the first thing people do is pick up soaps and smell. They always opt for a scent (but so do I Smile).

I sell my Grandmas Ole Fashion Bar quite well. It is lard and co and unscented or you can buy it with calloidal oatmeal too. I include a card with it listing all of the uses, laundry, stain fighter, cleaning, fish bait, etc. I sell my scented soaps so much more than unscented. But I do notice if I dont bring unscented to a show, that is when people want them. Makes me crazy. LOL

Hmm, interesting. I don't sell but have sat with my SIL at the Farmers Market while she was selling her soaps. A lot of people did like the plain castile because of their skin issues.

I personally probably wouldn't get an unscented bar but I do think it's important to offer it, even if you keep a lower stock.

I think it is like Kellie said, it is all in how you market it. The ole fashion bar I have gets the MOST hits on my ecrater store too!!!!!

One of my unscented soaps has coconut milk in it and it really comes out while washing. It smells awesome! And so far, people I've given a bar to feel the same.

So maybe using ingredients that still have a natural aroma, even though the are not FO/EOs, would do the trick?

I only use EO's and not fragrance oils. I wonder if that is why I sell the scented instead of unscented.

I have usually always had at least 1 type of unscented. I dont sell a lot of it, but its true, at fairs and markets, there is always 1 person asking for it. So i just do 1 small batch and it gets a chance to age beautifully!
