I decided to put some of my products in a new shop that is opening this weekend. I've been asked by a number of stores, but the wholesale prices at 50% off are so low for my ingredients, that my profit margin is much too low. The owner of the new shop is working with me. I am letting everyone I talk to know that my soaps are now at this location, so it helps her out also. I am still doing craft fairs and will probably continue doing the farmers market unless this really does well. I hope it does; I am going to market it heavy...so who knows.

Good luck. I hope this is a wonderful business endeaver for you. Marketing heavy is a great idea. Maybe even put it on some flyers or bus. cards for the crafter fair people too.

Ive done that, and boy unless they sell ALOT its pretty hard hun. Ive learned to do a wholesale discout at 40% and a minimum order of $50 a month for the smallest of shops and $100 for larger ones. NO CONSIGNMENTS ever again!

Thanks all Smile Kim, I've had a number of stores approach me to put my soaps in their location, but they have all offered 50%...and it's just not enough Sad. This store (which is really upscale) is so close to my home and it's such a nice place, I decided to give it a try. Also, the owner is great; she is very talented with decor and design, so her store is absolutely beautiful. So far, (and it's only been open one day) she has already sold a number of bars & wants me to bring more in. I am going there today to work a couple of hours for the grand opening weekend. I'll take more product with me then. I couldn't go yesterday because I had a craft show. At the show, I gave everyone a card for the store location to let them know where they can buy locally. One girl even came to my table and said I just got your soap at the new store Smile. It's just so nice to have a local store to send people (that's a really nice store). It's good for her also... she told me one of my customers went over to her store after hearing about it from me. I hope it works out for both of us.
